Dustyn Dorn Family

Biography

Dustyn grew up in his grandparents' home in Rochester, PA β€” a small Beaver County town. Dustyn understands firsthand the challenges working families face every day. His upbringing didn't discourage him; it drove him. He earned an Associate's degree from Pittsburgh Technical Institute and worked his way into a career at the Bank of New York, an opportunity he didn't take for granted.

At BNY, Dustyn didn't wait for advancement to come to him. Through continuing education, mentorships, and a commitment to showing up and doing the work, he built a career in IT Service & Vendor Management β€” leading teams, improving processes, and earning the trust of the people around him.

Outside the office, Dustyn has spent the last four years as a PIAA football referee, working games from youth leagues to varsity. It's a role that demands consistency, accountability, and the ability to make tough calls β€” qualities he brings to everything he does.

Dustyn isn't a career politician. He's someone who knows what it means to start with nothing and build something through grit and responsibility. That's exactly the perspective he'll bring to Harrisburg β€” a practical focus on improving everyday life for Pennsylvania families, because he's lived that life himself.

Government Reform

Pennsylvania's government should work for the people, not the other way around. Dustyn is committed to:

  • Ending partisan gerrymandering by establishing an independent redistricting process
  • Enacting term limits so fresh voices and new ideas can enter the process
  • Reforming campaign finance laws to reduce the influence of outside money in local elections
  • Holding legislators financially accountable when the budget isn't passed on time β€” if counties and families feel the pain of a late budget, so should the people responsible for passing one
πŸ“ˆ

Community & Economic Growth

For too long, Harrisburg has ignored the everyday economic needs of communities like Armstrong and Westmoreland counties. Dustyn will partner directly with local businesses, schools, and community leaders to bring real opportunity home, not just promise it. That means:

  • Raising the minimum wage to reflect the real cost of living
  • Ensuring public schools are adequately and fairly funded, regardless of zip code
  • Passing long-overdue revenue-generating legislation β€” recreational marijuana and "Games of Skill" taxation have sat on the table for years.
  • Prioritizing people over profit and party, every time
🌳

Environmental Protection

Western Pennsylvania's environmental challenges are decades in the making. Dustyn will fight to:

  • Remediate and revitalize brownfield industrial sites to restore land and create opportunity
  • Continue tackling abandoned mine drainage that poisons local waterways
  • Work with federal partners to address shallow land nuclear disposal sites
  • Halt new data center construction until independent environmental impact studies are completed. Development shouldn't come at the cost of clean air and water

Commitment to Bipartisan Cooperation

Good legislation doesn't have a party affiliation. Dustyn has watched gridlock paralyze Harrisburg for years, and he's running to break that cycle. He will work across the aisle. Not as a talking point, but as a practice to pass meaningful laws that benefit all Pennsylvanians, regardless of who they voted for.
